Beach Volleyball Courts and Gear: Plan a Casual Game

Use a current court listing

For a local option, the City of Gulfport lists four permanent public beach volleyball courts west of its Casino Ballroom on Shore Boulevard South. Recreational use is generally first come, first served unless courts are reserved or permitted for another use. Check the city page for current availability and event requirements.

A nearby court does not automatically mean equipment is supplied, or that a group can reserve the space informally by leaving belongings there. Ask about any planned league activity if the whole outing depends on a particular time. Gulfport is a day-trip suggestion here, not an additional BeachDay accommodation-delivery area.

Bring the right small kit

Confirm who is bringing the ball and whether it needs a pump. For a casual group, a ball that feels comfortable to pass may matter more than tournament specifications. If you need regulation equipment, verify the current governing rules and the actual product before purchasing.

Choose sunglasses for movement and UV protection

Check fit while looking up and moving your head, then read the protection label. The FDA recommends UV400 or 100% UV-protection labeling; lens darkness alone does not establish UV protection. Check the manufacturer’s care instructions and put glasses in a case when packing the gear.

Bring drinking water and a place to rest between games. Keep loose bags, coolers and chairs outside the playing area so they do not become obstacles.

Keep recreational rules flexible

Agree on the court boundaries, serving rotation and how long you will play. Mixed-ability groups can use shorter rounds or permit an extra contact. Clear agreement before the first serve prevents arguments later and makes it easier for new players to join.

Do not install a portable net on open beach simply because there is space. Ask the city or park about permission, anchoring and any restrictions first. Stop play if the area becomes crowded or conditions are unsuitable; National Weather Service beach guidance identifies thunderstorms as a reason to seek enclosed shelter.

Confirm rental inclusions separately

BeachDay’s current packages list beach games in the Beach Squad package, but they do not promise volleyball nets, court installation, balls or sports sunglasses. Bring or arrange any specific equipment your game requires.

BeachDay delivers listed gear to accommodations in its confirmed service areas. Guests transport and set it up themselves, and a quote request does not reserve equipment or confirm a booking.
