Keep the return trip simple

Plan a place for each component when packing down, and keep gear together for the trip back. Avoid filling every available space with personal supplies at the start of the day; the same load will need to come home. Decide who handles the umbrella while others carry chairs or assist children.

Shade is not storm protection. The National Weather Service says to seek a substantial building or enclosed metal-topped vehicle when thunder is heard. Do not delay leaving the beach to protect equipment.
