A southern outdoor day: Fort De Soto
Pinellas County’s Fort De Soto Park page is the place to start for maps, facilities and current access information. The county describes a park spread across five connected islands. Decide which part you want to visit before arriving; a large park is not a single beach entrance.
Choose your priorities—time on the sand, a walk or a look at historic features—and check the relevant facilities on the current park map. Account for the drive and the walk from parking when planning for children or anyone with limited mobility. Do not assume every feature is operating because the park is open.
A mainland garden visit: Sunken Gardens
Sunken Gardens is a city-operated botanical garden in St. Petersburg with tropical plants and birds, including a flamingo flock. It offers a different sort of outing from the Gulf beaches. Look at its current visitor information before planning the trip.
For guests staying in Treasure Island or St. Pete Beach, keep the mainland destination distinct from the beach community when navigating. Use your actual accommodation as the starting point, and leave space in the schedule for a meal or a rest after the gardens.
Stay closer to your rental

- Check whether it is mainly outdoors before choosing a weather backup.

- Leave one part of the day uncommitted so a delay does not derail every stop.
